Adidas was founded by Adolf Dassler. He made sports shoes in mother house. A company formally registered  from Adi Dassler on 18 August 1949. It is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe, and the second largest in the world.

The division’s focus is primarily on innovation and technology. Target consumers range from sports participants at the highest level to those inspired by sport.

In 2005 sold Salomon but held on to the TaylorMade brand. The following year the corporate name was changed back to. In 2006  acquired a competitor, the Reebok company, owner of the Rockport brand of shoes.
